Summer School: Not Having A Life

It's almost been 2 years since I last posted;
A lot has changed.
Friendships began and ended,
New hobbies, new phone, new clothes...
...and a new set of values.

Summer school 2013; talk about not having a life.
English and Chemistry...
There is absolutely no chemistry between these two subjects.
What was I thinking?
That I would be able to handle two courses?
I don't know what I'm doing anymore...
English... the thing I dislike most is how we dissect and take apart every piece of writing we read. We kill the piece of writing until there is nothing but the skeleton of words put together to form a piece of thought we ASSUME the author has written based on "EVIDENCE" we find the piece of writing. The beauty of just reading is gone; replaced with a cold analysis of the piece of art- a piece of paper covered with words. I mean, to me, the beauty of English is being able to feel what I think the author is speaking WITHOUT going over the words a million times.
I don't know...
I understand English is all about having the "correct" interpretation of the work, and being graded on whether or not you are able to take the words and get the theme or the mood or the tone that majority of English teachers or professors agree on.
To me, I think it's just killing a work of art by using modern day analysis to convey a meaning to society that WE want people to learn and to accept.
Allow me to allude to George Orwell's 1984;  The Thought Police controls all thoughts and emotions... English teachers and professors are the epitome of the Thought Police, except the only thoughts they control are our creative minds over English literature.

Needless to say I am in a very unstable mood and extremely aggravated over English.

 Until next time,
Claudia
